These raised cedar beds are built in a horse shoe shape with a small center bed. Doing this helps use the space more efficiently. The beds are mulched with a playground mulch, making nice soft pathways all around. We use eastern red cedar for our wood garden beds, which is grown and milled here in Tennessee, making it a local wood source. The natural oils of the cedar make it rot resistant, and will sustain the elements for decades to come. Near the road, we also put in a dry creek! This helps keep the water flowing and is a more natural looking way to control water.
